Game not recognizing controller

I'm playing on PC via Steam, using my Xbox 360 controller.
When I launch the game, it shows PS4-Buttons and does not react to any input from the Controller.
Tried to launch the game via Big Picture, trying several different approaches I found online, but nothing worked.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Edit: tried to reinstall the game (and restart PC of course), still broken...

    Hi FlipTricc,

    Sorry for a stupid question, but have you tested your controller in Xbox app (if you use Windows 10)? Does it work fine with other games on your PC?

    It does work fine with other games, haven't tried Xbox app at all tho ;)
    Nevermind anyway!
    A second re-install of the game and reboot of the PC fixed the problem...somehow...

    Try and reinstall the Xbox software off of Microsofts website, make sure that it works in other games and if not-make sure the adapter is working and synchronized. A few days ago one of my friends was also facing similar problem regarding not running the Video game properly on the Xbox but after going to the depth they found the problem was not of the controller but of the plan they are used on Xbox. After discussing the problem with his gamer friends he suggested him to Xbox live 50 euro kaufen from press-start, which offers multiplayer and single player games online at the best deal price, without any need of filling the wallet again and again.
