Can't see school info from players on PC

So I'm having major problems just seeing schools that other people are a part of, which has meant that I haven't been able to join really any schools outside the stagger one. When I go to my recent encounters list plenty of players will have the icon indicating they are a student / disciple / master of a school, but when I select them I get a message "Player not in a school". I can click on them and the "View / Join School" button is greyed out (but I can still click on it for players with the icon), however it loads up blank information and I can't actually join.

Has anyone run into the same problem? I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that I bought the game from GoG.com and it seems like there are some features that aren't shared between them (e.g. my friends list only has my friends from GoG Galaxy). It could be unrelated though.

Ahh thanks, I looked for a thread on it but couldn't find it (apparently my search-fu is lacking). Disappointing that there's no ETA on it since it severely hamstrings everyone who bought it on that platform making it near impossible to learn other fighting styles.
