Fast Decks Still Beat Slow Decks.

I have about 110 hours in at this point, so this isn't just an angry, ignorant noob rant (or hell maybe it is, but i feel this way all the same).

Out of every match I fought, drunken style attacks are WAY too quick for how unreadable they can be. By unreadable, I mean the unrealistic amount of time you have to react to them with defensive skills is just frustrating and unbalanced.

I HATE this style, the way the animations look, how much of an unfair advantage it is, how quick it is, how impossible to counter it is. I won't use it just because it's the only way to even play this unbalanced game. I don't want to twirl around like an idiot. I don't want to always get my *** kicked by twirling idiots. And I don't want to YOLOSPAM offensive attacks to get a cheesy win either.

fast decks are cheese. Please, god please, understand this, because at this point, I feel like it's just doomed to stay this way.

  • And this being said, if you have any thoughts to help shed light on anything you think I might not be taking into account (mechanical-wise), please speak up.
  • The next patch update might address this -- I've seen some of the comments and videos from the beta, and it looks like the strength of non-stagger moves are getting buffed. If this is a case, it's better then a nerf. I disagree with the problem being speed -- I think nerfing speed is a bad idea, in general. My argument would be, if the stagger style moves are evasive -- as well as many being double hits, and that unpredictability is their strength, they shouldn't also beat all other moves from other styles in both speed and power at the same time.

For example, the liver knee should hit harder than the whirlwind double punch -- significantly more. It's a comparative move: a low / mid strike that can be placed in alt 3. My liver knee hits at 91 there, and the WWDP is 74, not much less, considering that WWPD is also an avoid, a double hit, and moves faster than the liver knee. It's also a classic example of how stats make certain movements OP. I think buffing the strength of liver knee to 100+ would offset the speed of the WWDP, in this case.
  • Hey Heathen357,

As insight stated, we have been testing a lot of combat changes recently that we hope will resolve a lot of the frustrations players have with certain decks. Once the upcoming Patch goes live, play it for a bit and let us know what you think!
  • Awesome -- I'm excited about this one. I can see how more damage could also reduce the fast "spam", in that if you burn out all your stamina in the hope to score a few hits, and most are blocked, one good power move could negate it. More power in slower moves would create a more strategic fight. It would also up the ante on having to use your class abilities to counter them.
  • @Insight thanks for your critical thoughts, I can get on board with what you said as well, and I agree that stagger is the main issue over speed.

This forum has always been good with soothing my butthurt rageposts, so thanks for giving me your patience.

    this 100%

if the mods are in doubt they can ask someone in real life to do a backfall strike to the chest on them and a liver knee in the gut, then come back to us on which one hurt more xd

though we must not forget that though mostly stagger moves, all vertical avoids regardless of which style they belong to need to be looked at also, not one single soul in this game plays withouth them except me apperently.

    promote diversity.
