Is there a co-op level difference cap?

My friend and I want to complete the game in co-op together, but he doesn't have the same amount of time to play as I do. If I out level him by grinding combat trials (while not advancing the story-line to play with him) will at some point I be prevented from grouping up with him? This was an important detail in Dark Souls that I think you need to let people know about.

  • Don't quote me, but I don't think so.
I was put in PvP w/ lvl 30's when I was only 10 or so, and it lets you start the boss fights whenever, but I don't know for sure.
  • I suppose since all the boss fights are single player it doesn't matter much... in the end...
  • The in-game matchmaking system does try to put players of the same skill level together, but if there aren't a lot of people online it may mix people of different levels.

For PvE, you can add them to your friends list and invite them to play with you by meditating at an altar.
  • I've never encountered any problem while playing with my firends, and the lvl difference was as big as it gets: max lvl character with max lvl pvp <- my friend, and me on brand new character, so im pretty sure there's no cap.
  • Hey everyone! I had some people double-check on this so I could get you a more concrete answer. There is no level cap on the ability to invite people for coop. You and your friends can play even if you start to outpace them!
