Community driven content

I know Sloclap has moved on from the game, but it truly is a shame.
If they aren't going to create any additional content, perhaps they could contemplate adding just enough so the community can add things, similar to modding.

For starters, allow downfall to be played in a single go - from 1st stage to the final one in a "challenge run".

Secondly, let people create their own potential "spawn" sets for either the open world or downfall.
Perhaps people can share their character & deck - copy themselves even - to place into the spawn set. Imagine running downfall and you run into yourself. Could perhaps use these as bosses for an additional version of the downfall challenge.
It'd be cool to be able to make new regions or zones, but I understand it'd take way too much effort and wouldn't necessarily be feesible.

  • Well Rev, I'm happy to let you know that modding has already started to grow with Absolver. There's the Absolver+ Mod which adds new moves and cosmetics to the game as well as rebalances the game. There is updates to each boss, including downfall bosses. There are other mods that others are making as well, but its all on PC only though.

I agree that the devs leaving this alone is a travesty, but there is still community driven content helping out on the game.
  • I commented to this, but think it got flagged due to too many edits. XP So many things I had to add. I kept coming back to it. So apologies if this appears double in a way.

I'm fully aware absolver plus exists.
To the credit of the creator and other modders, it amazing what they can do and its a nice addition. Though I do not really enjoy the change in the moves; such as the removal of the integrated "avoids" in the vanilla attacks.
The focus is mostly pvp and it's noticable in the "balancing", as I can't for the life of me argue that pve is balanced. The changes in Downfall are a clear example of this. Though it is alot more challenging as a result. But, that's at a certain cost of variety and fun in my eyes. It's biggest draw by far is undoubtedly the customizations.
I do not wish to disrespect the creator of absolver plus - or any mod for that matter - in any way!
There is a lack of optionality when it comes to PVE stuff, which have mostly been applied for PVP reasons imho, for the sake of sustaining the mod's - absolver plus' - community. Logical, but frustrating at times.

However, although these mods do somewhat diminish the need, it cannot replace nor supplant the sheer volume some simple tools could bring to the table. Modding is still far too inaccessible to many people and alot more work. Unlike if the devs were to create a simple program and folder, where you can create your own spawnset.
Envision something like the creation of your school. People can select decks and an outfit/weapons, save it and share with eachother to add to a spawn set for Downfall or certain sections of the world, once you completed the game. Or perhaps a similar ingame deck creator for custom NPCs.
This might even make the modder's job easier.

That's ultimately the entire point of this thread.
I feel saying: "We have modders", kind of excuses the company to just completely drop the game and abstracts from their responsibility and commitment towards the communtiy (for a lack of better words) - whose sentiment largely appears to be one of abandonment, instead of imploring them to give it just that little it needs and could really use to improve and add to it. To make a geste towards the community to sustain itself beyond solely the modders.

Yeah, I'm not saying that. The developers had stopped actively developing the game since March 2019, with the exception of a few bug fixes for the servers of Xbox in August 2021. The reason for this is that they moved on to their next project, that of course being Sifu, and made very clear that they do not plan on coming back to Absolver in any way.

When I said, "we have modders" What I'm saying is, is that The community is now the only source of content for what to expect for Absolver.
