It all became about dodging

Hey Guys,

Recently 7 out 10 players are dodging. These people dont use their special ability at all. At not much punishment with stamina. Most attacks are evaded plus slowing the opponent down. It's not about winning or losing but i'm not sure if this is a desired gameplay. What's the point of styles then?

  • This change comes along with last update, new style add to gameplay many attacks with high range, so its much more easier to dodge enemy and counter his flow by long range strike. Also with actual meta to add more guardbreaking strikes to your combat deck, you really must care about your stamina.
    To fix it: they have to increase/lower stamina cost of dodge/special ability to give to gameplay more balance..

    For me: i found myself in 1vs1 against many stagger fighers, its becouse stamina regen after succesfully dodging your enemy, its much more usefull than other abilities right now.
  • I don't agree that the range and timing changes elsewhere address this. The main issue I see is people abusing the inactive frames of the Dash Dodge as a substitute for Windfall's Avoid. It's far too easy to do and undermines Avoid itself which is significantly harder to master. The only change I would make is remove some or all inactive frames for the Dash. Make that window tiny as hell if at all. It should not be competitive with Avoid. It should be just as quick and far as now. However if you dash left when I swing from the left, you should get clocked. The current inactive frames will clear some wide flying feet when it really shouldn't. Direction and range matter here. Swing the horizontal from the wrong direction and it should miss easily. Swing it from the right direction and you should get clocked hardcore. Momentum is against you there.
    For instance my fighting style plays my opponent into an evasive dash to the left fairly often. I have my deck timed so that I can execute a wide flying kick that has the range to connect at the far end of that dash. (I like to call that combo the Flying Foot of Doom.) Against oranges or less this will connect almost 100% of the time and kill in a lot of fights.) Against yellows and purples they will commonly dash a second time right through the kick since the inactive frames are immediate. This works about twice on most decent players before they find the out. (God it's satisfying though.) Note that a normal Avoid duck counters me all day long here.
  • UPDATE;
    I will give my honest opinion after playing hours since I created this post. Some might hate me but I don't feel like dodging is OP or broken. It's easy to use and easily rewarding true, but if you adjust your timing and style against people who are only using Manual Dodge, they became very fragile and defenseless quickly. Many of my late games I observe that I pushed my opponents to use their class abilities eventually because of that, but since they have been relying on Manual Dodging a lot, they weren't capable enough to use them appropriately. And this is still encouraging them to take advantage of their classes.
    Plus; I'm experimenting different styles, my mains are Windfall and Faejin, but when I play Khalt I have to rely on Manual Dodge time to time to avoid Breaking attacks.
    In the end, all these changes and adjustments take time to get used to it I guess. I'm not against to nerfing or buffing anything that the majority of the community agrees on. But right now I don't see a big issue to be honest.
