Game Stability Issue (Unreal 4 Engine Crashes)
Hello again. I'm sorry to say that I'm having major issues with Absolvers stability. Every so often after playing for 10 to 15 minutes, the game will freeze and then the screen goes black. Each time this happens I have to open up Control Panel and force quit the unresponsive game. This automatically opens the Unreal 4 crash report window.
I'm playing on PC with the graphics set to low. I have also used Notepad + to edit the game's .ini file to disable motion blur in the hope it would stop these crashes.
I have an AMD Athlon II X3 435 processor, 4 GB of DDR2 RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6900 GPU, and everything is running on Windows 7.
The only other time the game starts to freeze but recovers is when other players are loading into my area. When this happens, the game will pause and then continue, but will also show a graphical glitch where the player notification is duplicated.
So instead of showing this:
Absolver has entered the area.
Other Absolver has entered the area.
I see this:
Absolver has entered the area.
Absolver has entered the area.
Other Absolver has entered the area.
Other Absolver has entered the area.
Don't know if it's related, but I figured I'd mention it.

We are sorry to hear that you have issues with the game. It's a pity but specifications of your PC are below minimum system requirements and we can't guarantee stable work of the game on your PC, sorry. Please consider an upgrade if that is possible for you. Thank you for understanding
Could you, please let us know in which region are you located / playing from?
I also advise emailing support_ps4@sloclap.com for additional assistance. Please be sure to include as much detail as possible regarding the current issue you have.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation in this matter.
It seems there is a problem with AMD graphics cards and the Unreal Engine 4 going back all the way to 2015. Fortnite was experiencing the exact same issues. From the different posts I've read the problem is that certain AMD cards struggle to render shaders and shadows in UE4. Someone even mentioned that UE4 was telling their GPU to overclock when it couldn't which caused the game to gradually degrade until it crashed.
I guess all this to say, is there a way you all could include options to turn off shadows and shaders in the graphics menu? You know, give us a true "potato mode" option? I'm going to experiment with the .ini file to see if I can force the game to turn off shadows that way and see if it solves the crashing problem.
And is there a way you could see if UE4 is indeed trying to force GPUs to run at higher clock speeds?
Thanks for the help.
It goes without saying that it would have been nice (and very convenient) to have check-box options in the game's options menu to disable these graphical effects, rather than having to root around the web for a guide on how to mod the .ini file.
For those interested, here's the guide to what I did.
Navigate to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Absolver\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Open the file Engine.ini in your preferred text editor (such as Notepad+) and add these lines underneath the existing lines of code:
[/Script/Engine.RendererSettings]
r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=False
r.DefaultFeature.Bloom=False
r.DefaultFeature.LensFlare=False
r.DefaultFeature.AmbientOcclusion=False
r.DefaultFeature.AmbientOcclusionStaticFraction=False
Thanks for the information! It's been passed on to the team to review to see if there's anything that can be done on our side.
The game's framerate is now chugging at less than 30 FPS during intense combat sequences. I am experiencing input lag which it making it impossible to use my Absorb skill. I tried reducing the game's render resolution to compensate. Even at its lowest setting with all of the special graphics options toggled to 'low' or turned off completely using the .ini file mod, the game is still struggling to keep up with groups of 3 or more lost prospects.
This shouldn't be happening. Not when it looks like I'm playing Super Mario 3. I can play Fallout 4 on this PC with decent graphics settings. Why is this game causing my computer to slowly kill itself when it looks like Minecraft?
I'll try undoing some of the .ini file modifications to see if I can restore the performance of the game to what it used to be before I tried to keep it from crashing. I don't understand how the game's performance is going down as the graphics get worse. By all logic the game should be running at 120 FPS right now.
I'll post an update when I'm able.
