In the meantime, I'd advise to turn on Saved Data in Online Storage on your PlayStation 4. There's a link right here for how to do it: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/data_online.html
Additionally, if you could send us an email to support_ps4@sloclap.com and include a brief description of what was happening in-game when the crash occurred, it would be greatly appreciated.
Again I'm so sorry that this happened, I can completely understand your frustration.
You can't simply check the game files on Ps4 and recover my character?
If not then I demand a refund.
You can easily give me a file of a level 60.
Named Blank.
My combat trial rank was more like 30 maybe 31. But I only took a screenshot of 27.
If this is not possible I demand a refund. This is unacceptable.
The fact that a game in 2017 that has servers can't save data on a online system like Destiny.
Specifically, the first report about the issue so far has not been answered by staff yet: https://www.absolvergame.com/forums/discussion/46/absolver-ps4-gave-crash-and-save-corruption-ce-34878-0-error#latest
I claim a refund or at least some sort of compensation AND resolution. And yeah, unfortunately, it's not that easy to get a refund for this shit. PS support is stubborn as f@. They tend to say that there is no refund for the service that was "downloaded". I have been debating with them for this issue for more than 3 days.
So, this is a shitty situation man.
At least I am sure that this game is going to be f@ed soon enough. I have already told my friends about their crappy service and attitude. I will also make sure they pay by sharing my and others' cases, so that everyone else know what they get for paying their money for this scam. This way their sales will be severely damaged and everyone will forget about the game soon enough.
Well, unless they cooperate, the only option left will be doing a chargeback and suing them for providing faulty content to the customer.
like... game hasn't even been out a week, give them time to sort things out
Lol.
I'm simply stating a fact.
If this game were had taken the Destiny route with character saves none of this would be happening.
It's not as if they can get their fairy god coder to sprinkle some magic code sauce on the problem and make it go away-- it takes time.
Almost always more than two or three days, more often weeks. Even longer if people take to bitching about it on the forums instead of proactively helping them track down the cause through detailed reporting.
They can't simply check the game files on your PS4, because there is an astronomical chance that they don't have that sort of access to your PS4.
How do you know it's "easy" for them to just give you a playerfile?
You don't.
There is, however, one thing you're absolutely correct about.
You're right.
I do have to ask though, have you ever tried getting ahold of servers for a project of this scale?
I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you haven't.
There are a lot of good reasons they wouldn't want to player files saved to their servers-- maybe it was the cost? Gotta keep in mind this indie studio's pockets aren't nearly as deep as Bungie or Activision's.
Maybe it would cause more latency? Requiring constant player file updates to a server will absolutely cause more lag.
Who knows?
Plenty of good reasons, but all I can do is speculate as to which.
That is to say, there are plenty of perfectly valid reasons as to why they can't help you as quickly as you'd like them to-- but I'd imagine they're working on getting a solution out the door as quickly as they can.
Are there far too many game-breaking bugs during launch week? Yes. Is bitching about it on the forums going to help solve this issue any way? No. There's no need to pollute the forums with posts like this if you actually want to see your issue resolved.
The more cooperation we as players have with the development team in sharing detailed bug reports, the faster we can get these bugs resolved.
In the meantime be sure to back up data you can't stand to lose to prevent stuff like this from happening again.
Like... Not even just save files.
Solid life advice-- make a backup copy of anything and everything you wouldn't want to disappear.
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF NICE ADVICE PRO! I MEAN YOU¨RE A GENIUS

Like... The developers are gamers too, it's easy to forget that, but I've no doubt they understand the frustration of losing several hours worth of progression. I'm sure if they could slap together a custom PS4 save file and send it out, they would, but if I had to guess, the proprietary encryption on PS4 save files would prevent them from doing just that.
That said, they have to find and fix the bug before they can get around to figuring out how any sort of compensation will work. It's possible they don't yet have a framework for handling stuff like that.
In the meantime, the absolute best thing us as players can do to help solve the problem is to backup our save files and send detailed bug reports as soon as stuff like this happens.
Making a bunch of noise about it on the forums about it is counter-productive at best.
Hell, I've lost days worth of research and work-related stuff-- things with real-world consequences because Windows decided a blue screen was what I needed in my life.
So don't make the assumption that anyone defending the developer is just oblivious to what loss is.
People who enjoy the game will either back up their saves, or wait for a fix.
People who aren't enjoying the game and don't meet the criteria for a refund will try to sidestep the merchant and bug the developer (who used a vendor to handle stuff like this in the first place).
But bellyaching about it on the forums isn't any less annoying.
They've already acknowledged it, they're working on a fix, and have provided a workaround players can make use of in the meantime.
There's really not a whole lot left to be accomplished by continuing to bring it up here.
