My concern about the lack of Australian servers, and my opinion on SloClap's management on the issue

Hello.

My name is Norindyr. I would like to speak on behalf of all Australians and to all Australians, and would like to say that the majority of us are disappointed. The Australian playerbase, will not be as strong as it could have been and it will be hard to reconcile the damage caused by not having Australian severs on Launch.

BUT, in my opinion SloClap have at-least acknowledged the issue faster than any company I have seen acknowledge anything before, usually you wont hear about it for months and then the company will make a crappy compromise. But they seem to be working on the issue and hopefully they can work harder on deploying the servers as soon as possible.

I do believe this game and there company is different. I'd like to see a response from SloClap, not a vague response from twitter though. I would like them to announce on the forums to OCE Players the current status on the OCE Servers and how long it will be expected for us to get said servers, and if they are willing to compensate us for the damage already dealt to our community.

All I am saying is, this is an issue that could've been avoided by planning ahead, I know they are a small company but organization is not that hard. Props to SloClap for answering so quickly, I was really worried when I saw someone playing on PS4 and the lag was abysmal.

  • this is basically every match for me with some worse than this, i have 13ms to the server in brisbane and on NBN.

" working on the issue " simply not having AUS servers on launch was their choice. putting AUS on their Asia server was their choice. Every AUS player i know has a horrible connection on Asia servers and best on NA servers out of Asia, EU and NA when no Oce option is around.

even small companies like Phoenix Labs has an Australian server for their game Dauntless before it even hit beta!

this has nothing to do with organization and everything to do with Australia being ignored.
  • They are surely working for a fix on the problem. :)
  • I can't edit my post for some reason. Anyways, I have been enlightened with information that sort of makes this understandable.

Firstly, I'd like to acknowledge that my full support is behind SloClap on working this out. As they are probably as freaked out as us. It's probably chaos over there.

Secondly I'd like to inform people, as I did not have a clue about this, but SloClap is only an 8 person team!
With this knowledge it's easy to see that they may be having a lot of trouble handling such a large community, as we are growing exponentially.

Yes there twitter post was vague, but it's the first day. My rant was uncalled for, brash and heated... as I get passionate about things when I invest money into them. I am positive that people are overreacting about the 'No Australian Community, AUS is dead for Absolver before it even started'

A community can be built up after, for instance League (Shitty comparison) didn't have OCE Servers for the first three seasons and there beta, and there team was a lot larger than SloClaps.

We should be fine, give them a couple of days or the week.
  • Norindyr LoL might not have had OCE servers however they let AU players on the NA server and you could get 150-170ms without an issue and the game was playable and only high-end players with skill shots would really feel the lag.

compared with a fighting game that has a lot of reaction and timing in regards to its dodges, attacks, and counters to be able to even stand a chance is just a joke.

it doesn't matter what size team is working on this game. overlooking the OCE region like this is just a real shame.

sick of Australia being ignored so heavily when it comes to online games.
  • Not missing much so far. Servers have been a mess.

Default settings on such forums is usually that you can edit your own post for a fixed amount of time, like a few minutes or a few hours. Need to test to find out more.
  • Unfortunately for games to survive in the Australian climate and build an active community they need to have a strong launch. For this to come out without servers really undermines that. It probably would have been better just not launching it for our region until such time as they could have been available.

I'll hold off on a refund for the next week, however if no further information is provided I will be refunding.
  • Hey there,

We’re currently working on deploying a server in Australia. At his time we do not have a ETA but we'll let you know as soon as possible.

A team of 8 people as I said before, drastically changes how things can be managed. But they have already announced a new patch, and noted vaguely about Russian, OCE and Australian network changes.

See I get that, and what they have accomplished for a small dev team is nothing short of impressive. But to actually appreciate it I need to be able to play it which is the crux of the issue.

  • I think I saw on reddit that they would have an announcement by the end of today on the AUS server issue

It looks like the time limit to edit a post is one hour
  • The response time on this has been really impressive. Thanks so much to those from sloclap who got on this right away to address our community. While there may be some teething issues the game is definitely playable at the moment and look forward to having a blast.
