Styles rework

Hi Sloclap
I like your game. But unfortuantly i took a break too. Beside of lags which werent to bad in Europa but anoying anyway.
But the main reason i took a break, is the meta game, which, with the shrinking playerbase, went from anoying when encounter
a metaplayer to frustrating, because there are almost only metaplayers left, as they like absolver as it is, gameplaywise.

Heres my suggetion:
You made such nice 4 different fighting styles. But you only separete them throught the deffensive ability.
You made so many moves to build a deck, but as long as anybody can pick the best from any style, whats the reason
for styles anyway? Everybody picks the best shot from every style. This leads to meta decks, theres also no identity
to the fighting styles which i, as a martial arts fan, dont like. But beside of this, i think you fragmenting a core gamemechanic
of absolver. While everybody can choose every attack but cant defend the same way. I guess you have big troubles to balance things.

Solution:
Make moves dependent on the choosen style. May you still can put a stranger move in your deck, but with a fundamentaly
drawback. So people first stay on its own moveset.

Benefits:
- Identity to the fight style. Makes PVP more personel IMO.
- Variety in PVP opponents increase significantly.
- More predictable fights not as right now, where blocking, avoiding is more about luck, than skill.
- You have a strong tool to balance through the 4 different characters, with your moveset as well not only blocking ability.
- You prevent people from building spam- or metadecks, no matter its fast moves or guardbreakers as right now.
- You already have the mechanic implemented sort of...

Downside:
- You have to programm more moves ;)

And... Why not change goldlinking system, i thought about, making it more difficult after every link...
First link as of right now, the next has to be timed bettween less frames, and so on...
This wouldnt take a lot effort to programm, as the timing bar is already here.

You made a verry intresting game here it would be sad if it doesent scceed...

Thanks for your time and good luck...

    Oooo i forgot...

    - Replayability with a different style becomes a thing, as of right now, i dont see any reason to change from widfall to something else. expect a easier life in countering maeby. but thats a biasd opinion anyway....
  • I like the idea of giving Class benefits a lot. It makes sense that a Kahlt player would better execute Kahlt moves. But I dont see much changing meta wise. Many players will still pick the most effective moves within the most powerful class. That being said, I see more and more players foregoing OP moves just for the sake of variety or style (I know I do). Concerning Spam decks, I dont really see them as a problem. If the connection is good, spam decks are super easy to parry/avoid; I get a surprising amount of hatemail from players that think I'm spamming when really I'm just throwing fast punch combos (jab, cross, upper, hook) Ya know, like how real fighters do. note to the devs: Can I play anonymously? I really do get a lot of hate mail. Concerning Parries, I reject the notion that Parries are all luck. I'm a parry machine and believe me, its all skill. As soon as you start throwing punches, I'm saying aloud "left, left, right, left" and as soon as you start in with that first left again, boom, parried. I think its super fun. I take more satisfaction out of a parry than I do a hit. So anyways, yeah, those parries arent as lucky as you think; your opponent is probably just watchin you real close. And ff you narrowed your move-set even more (i.e. only Kahlt moves), man, you'd definitely be getting countered right and left (literally).
  • I honestly think the Aesthetics of the attacks should depend on the style you pick, and the functions should be based on the move. For example Jumped light kick will always be a light kick where you jump, but if your style is Kahlt you'll move more like a Muay Thai fighter than, say, a Wing Chung practitioner (Windfall).

I dont think as well, that this alone will adress metadecks fully. If ever possible anyway...
Well, in the first line, people may wont fill theire deck with more than one charge for example.
Then, you also cant just fill your deck with fast attacks as there are not enought anymore or you deal with the consequences if you do so anyway.
People are forced to use weaker moves if they wana link a certain string together as well... this will give the lost variety back to the game, we all felt in the beginning of this lovely game.
But beside of the acute changes it would bring. The devs have a much wider spectrum to balance the game.
They can buff or nerf, specific moves for specific styles. They can add new moves which react to a sertain meta move from a different style. They can, as Velindian says, play more with the strenghts and weaknesses of each style.
Well just thinking out of the box, you know...
    Cheers

That makes sense. And I definitely do think that the idea of having class advantages to class specific moves would be cool; I'm all for this idea.
