Online deck creator?/ mobile app

Hi, i caught myself in situation that i dont have access to my pc (in work f.e.) but i have an idea for some minor changes to my combat deck or just want to check something.. and i cannot do that.
So.. I came up with an idea that it will be possible to create a webside/mobile app with simply deck creator, without animations but with all informations that are already exist in game deckbuilder.

1)It would help many players who are looking for advice on forum.

2) it will be also connected to your existing webside, more views etc.

And there is also this little excitement, when someone cant wait to test created deck in game after work/school

For now, i tried to find sides like this, but i only found forum, which is not updated.

  • An online moveset builder would definitely be a nice addition to the resources available to players. ARPGs come to mind with the way the most popular titles of that genre all seem to have either a dev provided or fan created skill calculator. It makes it easy to share example builds, come up with ideas to then test ingame, etc. Basically what Alkadias said. All of this, from what I can tell, increases the amount of time and thought players invest in the game, both ingame and outside of it.

A lot of the game is steeped in martial arts culture, trying to kind of emulate all of it, so I am kind of going to base my reasoning in that, as I am assuming it drives creative decisions and whatnot at sloclap regarding this game. I am also going to assume there will be codes/urls to save and share decks in this theoretical deckbuilder as that is a key component of most. We have the school system currently, which is somewhat awkward. But the love it is going to get with Downfall looks to me like the devs are dedicated to it. The appeal likely being that in it's awkwardness it is more akin to martial arts. Your mentor does not try to improve your fighting capability by helping you create your own seperate thing, they guide you through their own school and via that process, you absorb lessons that can then be applied to your personal moveset going forward.

To grab a prominent real world example that is halfway relevant to Downfall: Ip Man taught Bruce Lee Wing Chun, Bruce Lee then later went on to create Jeet Kune Do. I think that is what the devs are going for. Your mentors influence you, your opponents influence you, but it is all rather indirect. You are absorbing concepts primarily. Opposed to that we have what a deckbuilder would probably propagate, which is a more direct influence, someone can just sit down with your deck for a bit and rework it for you. There is a large gap between these two approaches. Perhaps most importantly, the mentor is doing the work for the student in the latter case. They are applying their advice for the student, instead of telling the student what they might want to try doing.

To attempt a summary: (1) Great idea, implementing it well would likely increase enjoyment for a good number of players. (2) However this might run counter to what sloclap is trying to do with the game and bears a certain risk of some players never truly going on their own personal journey of selfimprovement and whatnot. (3) 2 is pretty much entirely based around what I think sloclap's vision for the game is. I understand it, I respect it, but I may be entirely wrong about it.
  • You're right, in this scenario its better to learn from someone and try to inplement gained knowledge into your deck..
So, in my opinion: best solution could be simple wiki with updated movelist, without deckbuilder, you can check everything (frames, target etc.) but you have to try your idea by yourself.
