Souls like- Covenants and other mechanics
Ok, So for those of you who have played dark souls know what Im talking about and should know that a Covenant system would work very well with the way the game is. Here are a few examples
Ruins Guardians - (slight gold aura around the player)
Helps players in the Ruins.
Automatically "friendly"(Cant damage other players. Bandits are an exception) and applies a slight buff to stamina regen for players around them. Essence for every enemy they help other players kill. (the other players must deal the final blow. As well as the helper cant bring an enemy's HP below 50%(bandits are an exception). Gains Coven XP(think trials level system) for the "marks" that players have to kill to progress
Unique power "Oath of protection" makes it so that a single player is buffed for Health and Stam Regen and if this player were to die, The guardian's current health would be cut in half and the player would get the other half. Happens only once per player in 5minutes
Ruins Bandits - (slight purple aura)
Hunt players in the Ruins.
Automatically "aggressive"(cant co-op with players, Other bandits are an exception and makes NPC's ignore you). Applies a slight buff to damage for NPC's in the area (excluding bosses). Gains XP for Player kills and additional XP for guardian kills.
Unique power "dominate"(Inspired by you know who) Makes a single NPC follow you. This NPC has buffed Stam regen, Damage, and has access to 1 ability(lasts 5 minutes). If used on a player who is not in a faction (thats not marked by a guardian) Will turn this player into your slave. They have to follow you around and attack what you lock on to(to prevent griefing, it can only be used once every 30 minutes and only lasts 2). This can be resisted by using silence or guarding when the skill is being cast (the ability would take 2-3 seconds to activate so they have enough time to resist) or if a guardian uses his ability on them)
Now I know these are not exactly the most BALANCED effects. But These were just examples. And like in trials, if you level the covenant you get unique covenant gear. Maxing it out would give you a unique mask that increases the effect of the passives. Things like this would give players who beat the game more to do and extend game life by much longer. After all me and my friends played dark souls one for months trying to max out all the covenants.
