Allow Us To Use Non-Alternating Attacks In Our Alternate Deck Slots

edited December 2017 in Suggestions?
The alternate attack is supposed to be used to mix-up your flow, punish a conditioned read, or throw off your opponent's timing. Deck building shouldn't exclude attacks that don't change stance from these slots as they are still an alternative option to the basic combo string. Allowing us to use these (Underknee Kick, Falcon Punch, Pulmonary Palm, etc.) as alternate attacks would spice up the combo system a bit more. Seeing these attacks come out from multiple strings would make them more interesting to fight and fight with. In addition to making some of them more useful in the process. Especially the slower ones where not being used as an alternate, can make countering them easy; once you find the string it sits in.

If repeating attacks is an issue, simply make them unable to gold link into themselves. However, even without being able to do so, players will still link fast moves with similar properties if they want. So limiting them in that aspect is pointless.

  • Use a main string. I currently have pushed-back kick (GB) as my sole attack on the left-back stance.

Why? Because it's funny as heck the first three times I do it, as it'll usually break the other player's guard and hit them twice before they clue in.

Of course, once they do, it's practically useless as anything but a feint.

However, against NPCs it works amazingly well.

Having them as alternate attacks allows them to be used mid string as mix-ups without having to step cancel. I know you can just use a main string with the attack, but that potentially makes you lose out on 2 potential attacks. Not to mention you can still only execute it after a completed string or as a starter. Whilst alternate attacks can be used mid string if your previous attack lands on its stance.
  • Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your suggestion with us! The ability to use non-alternate attacks in an alternate slot sounds like a very interesting idea.

We can't guarantee we will use your idea, but we truly appreciate your feedback and suggestions and would like to encourage you to share any other ideas you may have in the future.
