thoughts on combat
This game needs grabs, jumps, and better dodging. It's annoying getting hit by an attack because how shitty the dodges are in this game.
Grabs would help against people who do nothing but spam quick attacks and people who do nothing but guard.
I would like to be able to make an Aerial type fighter kind of like Vega from street fighter. He'll just some jump attacks would be nice.
Lastly I would like some actual counter moves. I don't like parrying or the absorb.
If nothing else gets tru then at least the grabs and better dodges. Those two I'd really like added to the game. Especially grabbing. Kind of sucks that I paid for this game and I can't even count the times I've fought people who played extremely cheap and I see their whole playstyle would crumble with a simple grab.

Grabs- Well. In what way? Sure, you grab them- you're holding them- now what? Throw them somewhere? Knee them while they're grabbed? If it's throw- prepare to be shut down by the community. People already despise being bumped off ledges, or earthquaked off a walkway- can't imagine how they'd feel if they were just grabbed and WWE Irish whipped off the edge. If it was to be kneed- Well, that's certainly a possibility. A slow grab and attack that limits them from doing anything for a moment- but could be open to abuse.
As for countering- if anything, a side dodge and a quick attack works brilliantly for me. I find parrying a chore, and even when you do land it, they're stunned for a way too short amount of time. I agree that it'd be better if it (the parry) dealt a slight bit of chipping damage along with the stun, but maybe that was avoided for a reason. I can't comment on the absorb, as I've never used it.
To beat spammers, just hold left trigger. As long as you have some stamina, they'll run out far before you will.. Or, so the game was intended, anyway.
