I only saw from the early game that blocking lets you gain experience. Correct me if I'm wrong tho.

It does, it'll actually add a larger bonus to the learning for using a defensive measure

Evade occasionally works when you get hit and sometimes doesn't grant xp when you succeed.

Yeah, the Windfall Stance is finicky as to when it registers a successful dodge, regardless of you evade danger or not. The sensitivity needs to be tweaked for sure.

The window for dodging is wonky. I have to wait or I will dodge to early. so maybe your too quick.
