Why does parrying feel so nerfed?

The stun window for parrying has been dropped so hard I don't even want to fight with it at all!
Before you could at least get a solid force hit now I can't even hit someone unless I've got an attack with solid speed in it.

  • Not sure what you mean, but parry is as strong as ever. Only difference I've seen is I can sneak a thrust move in every now and then.

This is completely false, no aspect of parry has changed since the start of the game except for the stamina gain.

Not at all I've witnessed multiple times where I've had the stun and the enemy punch right through it due to high speed attacks!
  • Yea? I've actually had the same thought. The time frame I had when I first started playing seemed much longer, than it does now. I actually noticed it when I was fighting my first few matches in the arena. And I couldn't figure out if the parry changed or if I was doing it wrong. But don't worry, I just figured out that I was simply getting better at the game and no longer fighting npc's or random newbs in the open-world. And the same is happening to you.

The parry timeframe was not shortened, that is what many people are pleading for in the forums now.
  • It's more so that the dropping playerbase caused low quality connections to occur more often. So in reality it's just lag desyncing the parry frames from the animation, or defensive input not registering on uneven terrain (due to latency messing with player positioning).
  • I have noticed it also. I thinks it's for the reasons Velindian mentioned because sometimes my Parry is spot-on and other times its not. If there's any lag at all, I just don't use it
  • To update this post, parry frames were reduced from 7 - 5, to match absorb frames. However it might have been too small of a fix as most good forsaken players were unaffected and thus still simply parry + side kick everything under the sun. It's really aggravating fighting against this type of play. But I can't say with 100% certainty that forsaken needs another balancing. It could just be me not being good enoguh to fight against the top few guys. But on the other hand, if it were a paid tourney, most of those dudes would be Forsaken.

Parry doesn't need a nerf, the attacks need to be rebalanced. There exists a small set of attacks that are just better versions of others, and another set that are complete garbage (*cough* Straight Punch *cough*). Backfall Strike, Drunk Crane, Back Tripped Kick, Grab Punch, and Jumped Light Kick are some of the biggest offenders, and it's hard to find a deck that doesn't have at least 2 of them in there somewhere. Also, Side Kick hits at the knee faster than at the foot. So the already fast speed for it's damage alongside this makes it a reliable parry follow-up. Hence why Forsaken is so good.
  • Forsaken is actually rather underpowered, as I stated many times. Parry gets a extreme amount of hate even though there are numerous counters for the laughable ability.
