The PvE is turning into PvP as well?

Since you can make multiple characters, I've been trying all the styles to get an idea of which Combat Style I prefer, as well as get a taste of some different movesets to know which moves I like.

So I downloaded the new patch and finally made a Khalt to try the absorb, and I must say it's very interesting to use. I blast through the Tutorial section, and get to the Guidance Bridge. Immediately after I activate the Obelisk there, some guy that's clearly way farther ahead than my new character by the look of his Kuretz Fur just immediately starts attacking me. I manage to sit at the obelisk and decided to wait for him to leave, and he does eventually.

So I go down into the Hunting Path and it's crammed with AI opponents since it loaded three other players in the same area, and I'm attacking two people at once and doing alright...and some player starts attacking me. I back off from the AI and get far enough away from him and emote quickly the 'nonono', 'sad', and then 'stop fight.' He proceeds to beat my face in, and he was using Stagger Style and had a mask that you got later in the game. So I took off and managed to hit the Guidance Bridge obelisk and sat there until he left.

I head back into the Hunting Path again, and this newer guy is getting ganged up on by AI, so I help him out because one of the Lost Prospects DREW A SWORD! After we beat him, he gets ready to fight me. I just give him a thumb up, and he returns it and leaves. I was like 'Why was he ready to fight, I was clearly trying to save him?'

A short bit later after failing to beat Revario on my first try, I head back to find two players fighting off 5 AI, so of course I run in and help. After we beat them all, this guy who seems to have Ama Saba's mask and headpiece attacks me, even though I just helped him out. I refuse the fight and he stops, and then he attacks the other guy who was in the 3v5 fight! So I run in and we start beating on him and he runs away. I part ways with the other guy and try to take on Revario again, bail after it looks bad, and then I run into that Ama Saba player again...and he attacks me again!

I was unable to shake him or use an obelisk, so I just closed the game and atm I'm playing offline just so I can try out the Combat Style.

Is there like a 'Beat 20 unsuspecting playing in PvE to get awesome gear' event going on right now or something? Like, what the heck is going on? XD It was never this bad pre-patch.

  • It's just the nature of humans man, besides this is a game and people want to have fun, even if it's pissing of others, nevertheless, it's really great to challenge your saviour.

hey @ForsakenM i know the feeling man. i run into other players who are always try to fight and few actually wanna co-op. i dont blame them for what they did. so i always run as soon as i see a hostile player or stay and fight him. once we unlock all the moves lets create a group to oppose hostile players if you are intrested. i play on ps4 by the way.
  • I have to say I'm guilty of doing this in a way, but the only time I've ever done it is when I'm farming a move and I almost got it then the person kills the npc. I know they can't know 100% that's what I'm doing but I'm just a little agitated that they made me waste my time so I just beat on them till I either knock them out (then I revive them and go on my way) or they run off.

I've come across what feels like millions of cancerous players like that already lol
Honestly my experiences with other players were almost all great when I was new. Nowadays it's quite common for people to try and grief imo but 9/10 times I K-O em, give the "no-no-no.." taunt and walk away happily whilst theyre forced to respawn in a new server and start from square-one:p

It's no longer troublesome for me at the caliber I'm playing now (Not bragging--I simply mean I'm experienced enough to hold my own) and I kind of like the occasional challenge or opportunity; keeps the game more exciting and a good win against a cancerous noob can really feel satisfying haha
  • Playing offline is way better, anyways; because there is no lag. The little coop you can get in the oepn world is hardly worth the lag. And the gankers are an issue, too; although I've encountered only a couple of them, I think.
  • Yeah I always try to help out the noobs with fights most try to attack me till they realize that I am a lvl 60 and that I am way stronger than them, then they request to stop fighting I accept and send them a coop invite.
  • What annoys me the most is peoples who want to fight you over and over. Probably to get a move. I never decline the first challenge, and honestly, I can't remeber last time I was defeated in PvE. The best players are in PvP. But some peoples are really persistent. A guy just killed me 3 times. I declined the fight, and did put down the controller, yet he kept at it. Asking him via message to stop, I got a "**** you I do whatever I want"

Personally, I really like the fact that wandering the world, you get to meet other peoples, and some of them will be mean. But there should be some kind of failsafe to protect yourself from thoses a**. Any idea?
  • You could always restart the game if someone keeps bugging you -- it will put you in a new server.
  • rezoning will save you.

I like to fight people i come across but I don't attack them. I bow and then punch in their direction once I know they see me. Sometimes we fight, sometimes not. I like the challenge and unpredictability, but understand sometimes you just don't want to deal with ppls shit.
  • There is an emote to start a fight. Of course, it never gets used because it's far easier to start a fight by just whacking somebody. Why not make it useful?

If people aren't in a fight and haven't been in a fight in the last 30 seconds or so (or since their most recent respawn) than let the Request Stop Fight emote toggle 'non-fighting' mode. Non-fighting mode means you can still be hit, but players can't lock onto you, and you can't lock onto players. Non-fighting mode can be cancelled at any time by requesting a fight with someone, or by accepting someone else's fight request.

Also, to protect from trolling, new characters who are just entering from the tutorial area should be non-targettable until after their first interaction with a pillar.
