Kahlt Absorb - My greatest regret with this game

I can't stand it. I know I need to learn to use it better, but its so damned easy to make use of avoid or parry to break the flow of combat or redirect the fight.

To make use of absorb, especially with the tendency to have to deal with extremely fast attacks in pvp, you've got to be a mini-Daigo and chain absorbs. Without any kind of frame advantage offered (if there is it really doesn't feel like it), it really only feels worth using vs slow attacks you know are coming or can easily react to. It feels like you need to have better reactions and timing/prediction than the other two, and even when you get it, its less payoff than the other two. If it had more payoff for what it requires to successfully pull off with better consistency, sure it'd be fine, but it just seems like an extreme risk/low reward.

The Kahlt fighting style and moves themselves I like and appreciate, but if I could ditch kahlt and keep my moves and deck, without a doubt I would in a sec.

  • ow yeah.. even though i love my Kahlt and win quite well with him... wouldnt recommend using absorb on any move higher than 50% speed ofcourse because alot of gold-chains are faster than you can start-up usually :pensive:
Unless youre ofcourse quite skilled and manage to press an fast attack button in the small windows between flicking the stick and the ability activating
  • You can ditch kahlt. Join a school that's Windfall, Stagger or Forsaken (like mine ;) ) then you can temporarily use the style with your own deck while you're a part of the school. Using the style's special ability enough times will allow you to unlock the style permanently.

Ah, so relieved to hear that. Not only is that relieving to know that its there but that Slowclap had the foresight to incorporate that option...because well, this game is about options. Forsaken here I come! And well, I'll join yours Mustu, if its Forsaken and you PM me.
  • this also has a lot to do with lag issues. khalt is meant to have nearly zero startup. windfall a slight, and parry, the most, with the smallest window.

Some tips on how to set up Absorb.
  • The best part about Kahlt's absorb is it absorb hits from any direction and any altitude. That's it. It doesn't open any window for counter attack if your opponent keep pushing.
I play all styles and I must say absorb is the worst ability. I'm not quite sure why they put Kahlt at easy difficulty. I personally think they're the hardest to play.
If you find it frustrating, I suggest you ditch that character and create another one in different style. Windfall and Forsaken are both good
  • So thanks Altair_Snake. I learned more about how to use the parry moves than Absorb actually, but it was good to hear from someone else and confirm that blocking after absorb isn't a good idea. How to use absorb in fast paced combat is the bigger part of what I need to learn.
  • The way I feel it, khalt absorbtion is all about timing, positioning and knowing when to guard, absorb, dodge and counter-attack. It's more a matter of rythm than prediction if you compare it to other styles. This rythm-based defense is alas what suffers most against the current cancer mono-move fast decks, since khalt is all about enduring hits until you find an opening.

Absorb isnt really meant for fast strings, thats why its not as popular to use atm.
Absorb works amazing against high dmg, slower hits and/or charged attacks .. the problem is that if you absorb a fast hit and then get hit by the next in combo chain hit.... thats worse than not having ever used Absorb. And with the moves they use alot, they will beat you in speed unless you equip specific skills.
Cant deny my love for Kahlt and cant say i avent had life-saving moments by Absorb..., its just.. situational...
